Ford Explorer Comparison: 4Runner and Passport

Here at Tiesiera Ford we wanted to include a comparison page to briefly go over two models in particular often compared to the Ford Explorer. The new Honda Passport and the new Toyota 4Runner. These two SUV’s share a lot in common with the Ford Explorer so we will break down the other two models in a comparison with what Ford has to offer.

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner comes equipped with a 270 horsepower V6 engine, and available all wheel drive with active traction control, multi-terrain select and CRAWL control. For safety there is the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure alert. Seating for 5 and 16/19mpg the 4 runner starts at $36,120 and has 8 different trim options.

The Honda Passport with its 280 horsepower V6 engine, Independent suspension, traction management and available torque vectoring AWD. As far as safety goes in the Honda Sensing Suite there is collision mitigation systems, and road departure mitigation. With 4 trims such as Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite the Honda Passport will start at about 31,990.

Along with the intelligent terrain management system and 4WD Ford’s Co-Pilot360 system has everything that comes with the Passport and Highlander safety systems as well, such as lane-departure assist, rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and blind spot assist. Compared to the Ford Explorer it has more space with the ability to fit 7 passengers, the powertrains include an ST version and hybrid models, and with the ST package the Explorer will produce about 400 horsepower.
